PMEC is a recognized leader in marine energy technology R&D, testing, and education and outreach; leveraging the capabilities of the University of Washington, Oregon State University, and University of Alaska Fairbanks.
PMEC is structured to close key gaps in understanding through the support of baseline studies, on-going monitoring, and setting the technical, ecological, and human dimensions standards for marine energy projects.
Though PMEC does not maintain any testing facilities as a Center, it does have access to the combined testing capabilities of UW, OSU, and UAF, including world-class riverine and wave energy test sites and a purpose-built marine energy research vessel.
The development of wave, tidal, and offshore wind energy power sources opens up worlds of possibilities for students, who will conduct pioneering research on their way to stimulating careers. PMEC educates tomorrow's marine energy workforce.
