Procedural Schedule

July 15, 2014: The regulatory process for NNMREC’s Pacific Marine Energy Center South Energy Test Site (PMEC-SETS) continues to advance. On May 27th, FERC approved Oregon State University’s request to use the Alternative Licensing Process, and on June 20th, BOEM issued a Determination of No Competitive Interest for the project site lease. With these two critical regulatory actions complete, the focus of the regulatory process turns now to the formal public scoping pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). FERC hosted public meetings in Newport, Oregon, on July 9th and 10th where the project was described, questions were answered, and input solicited regarding potential effects of the project. The public review and comment period is now closed.

The Collaborative Work Group (CWG), composed of federal and state agencies and other key stakeholders continues to collaborate on potential ecological effects of the project in support of OSU’s next regulatory submittal, which is a revised NEPA scoping document that will identify Resource Issues to be Analyzed and Baseline Study Plans in support of completing environmental documents associated with NEPA and the License Application to FERC.
